Once there was a home

Half a century ago, due to massive erosion, a part of the mountain cut the Visocica river on Stara Planina mountain. In just a couple of days, three villages were submerged. Authorities started immediate evacuation of three villages – Zavoj, Mala Lukanja and Velika Lukanja. Hundreds of homes were submerged by a massive lake called Zavojsko jezero lake. These days, due to the very low water level, a good part of the submerged village of Velika Lukanja can be seen. Scattered plates, rabbits,  children toys. All this creates a creepy picture of life that no longer exists in the once beautiful villages of the Middle High on Stara Planina.
